Back question??I posted this already but I am hoping I can get more than one response.?
When I was 10, I had a rod put in my back because of scoliosis. At the time, I was in a wheelchair because I had very bad ankles from birth. Rods were eventually put in my ankles as well. After my back surgery, I spent the next couple of years in my wheelchair. A year ago, I finally had the surgery done on my ankles. I spent 3 months in rehabilitation therapy. All throughout, my back just would not straighten out. The doctor said we would just worry about strengthen up my legs so that I can start walking. Well, I am on canes now but I walk hunched over. My legs don't make walking hard, my back does. The last two weeks of therapy, the therapist started working on my back. I would spend 20 minutes of therapy under a heating pad. But, nothing has changed and she said my back is probably contracted(sp?) from being in the chair. I don't even know what that means. I go back to the doctor in a couple of weeks but I was just wondering if anyone had an idea was could be wrong. I just want to brace myself if he tell me I will need another surgery to straighten out my back.
