Is it normal for a baby raccoon to stop in the middle of eating to flatten tongue and pant?

We were given a 6 week old kit, to care for from some friends who found it in their attic and after the weekends over, my first action will be to contact the local vet or agency to see about a wildlife rehabilitation person in my area. Until then, I am concerned about this one action it has while eating. Stopping in the midst of suckling formula mixture from syringe to flatten tongue and pant. Any advice or knowledge appreciated. Thanks in advance.
