How to make an alcoholic want to get a help?

Someone close to me suffers from alcoholism. it has been like this for 25-30 years. This person is not physically aggressive however can be mentally abusive. This person has been diagnosed with MS years ago and stopped working, his life lost purpose in his opinion, despite the fact that his wife and kids still love his and want him to get better. I desperately want to help him before its too late. that person lives in Poland, i dont know polish law and procedure but will try to find out. I just need to work out how to make him want to get a treatment and change his life. Private rehabilitation places are extremly expensive, i have checked that but i am ready to do everything.
