I downloaded sims medevial from game on my mac but it was a exe file how do i get it to work? (change to dmg)?

I downloaded it legal from game, and it said it was a dmg file which i can open to install but when i downloaded it it was actually a exe file, therefore i cant open it and install the actual game. Is there any way of installing it without getting windows? Thank you x
